Having been in the tailoring business since 1955, we've gone through a few steam irons in our day. The gravity feed irons haven't changed much since forever. We've chosen to carry the Pacific Steam brand of irons only because we have tested their product personally and have found not only the product but the factory support for their products to be the best in the industry. We go through a gallon of water a week, with constant use, eight hours a day, 5 days a week. We have only had to change the spring and plunger once in [5 years] that time. The replacement parts, if ever needed, are also priced reasonably, unlike some brands. We recommend you use distilled water after the filter beads run out.
